The boys and girls cross-country teams both won their final dual meets of the season Oct. 15 on their home course at Harvard Park, each beating Gardner and Hudson by substantial margins and each confirming their standings at the top of the Midland-Wachusett League C Division.

Junior Ben McWaters won the boys meet with a time of 16 minutes, 47 seconds, one second ahead of Sokari Jenkins of Gardner, who finished second. The boys won their race against the Gardner team 19-39 and against Hudson 15-42. Bromfield’s gold medalist at last week’s Twilight Invitational, sophomore Kai Kemeza, was recovering from an at-home injury and sat out the race. It was the fourth straight year the boys have ended their regular season undefeated within their division.
In the girls race, senior Rosie Bradley won with a time of 19:03.7, followed by Hudson’s Julia Klinedinst (20:44.8) and Bromfield sophomore Abby Wool (21:01.4). Bradley’s time was a new course record, one previously held by Tessa McClean of Bromfield and set in 2019, according to boys coach Marisa Steele. As a team, Bromfield outscored Gardner 19-42 and Hudson 15-50. Hudson entered only two runners, who placed second and seventh relative to Bromfield’s Top 5, earning Hudson a score of 50, as specified by league rules.
Last Wednesday was senior night for both teams, who are now preparing for the Mid-Wach League Division C Championship at Ghiloni Park, Marlboro, Saturday, Oct. 25. That competition will bring together all 24 league teams, but each will compete only against the schools in its division. Bromfield’s division, Division C, comprises Bromfield, Gardner, Hudson, Littleton, Lunenburg, Quabbin, and Tyngsbororough. Bromfield Athletic Director Dave Boisvert is the meet director.
