The Ambulance Service responded to nine calls and transported six patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. Ambulance crews also responded to two motor vehicle collisions and provided one lift assist.
Tuesday, June 24
At 9:08 a.m. alarms sounded at a Woodchuck Hill Road home, and Engines 2 and 4 responded, along with the tanker. Crews found smoke and carbon monoxide in the basement from an oil burner backfire. They ventilated the building and told the homeowner to contact their oil burner technician for service.
Wednesday, June 25
Engine 2 and the ambulance were called to a crash on Interstate 495 northbound but the call was canceled en route.
Thursday, June 26
At 9:30 a.m. a truck leaked hydraulic fluid on Whitney Road, and Engine 2 was called to clean up the spill.
Friday, June 27
At 8:40 p.m. a fire alarm went off at a Poor Farm Road residence. The crew of Engine 2 found no apparent cause and suggested the owner call the alarm company for service.
Saturday, June 28
At 5:31 a.m. a car struck a deer on Route 2 westbound with such force the deer came through the windshield. Engine 2 cleaned up debris and waited for the tow truck, while the ambulance transported the injured person to the hospital.
Sunday, June 29
At 4:39 p.m. a commercial alarm went off on Prospect Hill Road; firefighters on Engine 2 responded and found the cause was a faulty detector. At 8:05 p.m. the alarm went off again; Engine 2 went to the scene again, and the alarm company came to replace the detector.
