Fourth of July events
Join the festivities Friday, July 4, for the annual Fourth of July celebration. Watch the parade through the town center, and participate in field events in front of the library. The Lions Club will offer food for sale. For more information or to volunteer, visit harvard4thofjuly.org.
- 9 a.m.: Display of antique cars at the library field
- 10 a.m.: Bike decorating contest on the Common
- 11 a.m.: Parade, beginning at Depot and Ayer roads
- Noon: Flag-raising ceremony at the library field
- 12:15 to 2:30 p.m.: Ongoing activities including greased pole, duck pond, tin can knockdown
- 12:15 to 2:30 p.m.: Activities and races by age group including pie eating, candy scramble, sack race, three-legged race, parent-child relay, egg toss
- 3 p.m.: Field cleanup
Fun run and 5-miler
The Great Harvard 4th of July Race will be run Friday, July 4, starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Bromfield School, 14 Mass. Ave. The 1-mile fun run will start at 9:30 a.m. On-site registration for both opens at 6:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in seven different divisions, and postrace refreshments will be available. Storytelling at Old Frog Pond
Fugitive Productions will host storytelling Sunday, June 29, 3 p.m., at Old Frog Pond Farm & Studio, 38 Eldridge Road. In addition to several local, handpicked storytellers, four regional, award-winning storytellers will share their true-life stories. Rockin’ the apples
The Harvard-based rock duo Phil & Paul will perform a selection of classic and contemporary tunes Saturday, June 28, 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., at Carlson Orchards, 115 Oak Hill Road.
Yoga on Rogers Field
IridESSENCE Community Health Collaborative will lead free outdoor yoga Wednesdays through Aug. 27, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Rogers Field, Devens. Bring a yoga mat, water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Concord Band at Fruitlands
The Concord Band continues its summer concerts at Fruitlands Museum, Wednesdays through July 16, at 102 Prospect Hill Road. Concerts begin at 7 p.m.; gates open at 6 p.m. Gather on the lawn for an evening concert with stunning sunset views. Pack a picnic meal and snacks; food and beverages will not be available. Abundance and mindful harvesting
Old Frog Pond Farm & Studio will host a gathering for those seeking deeper connection with nature, community, and self, Saturday, July 5, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the farm at 38 Eldridge Road. Explore the sacred act of gathering and honor the abundance of nature, centering on the wisdom of berries and closing with a simple treat of homemade ice cream. $45 fee.
