The Federal Emergency Management Agency will hold a public open house on flood plain management for Harvard and other communities in the Nashua River watershed Wednesday, May 14, 4 to 7 p.m., in the north meeting room at Fitchburg City Hall, 718 Main St., Fitchburg. Safety at summer camps for children
The Board of Health reminds residents that Massachusetts recreational camps for children must comply with state regulations: training and background checks for staff; minimum staffing and qualification for swimming, boating, archery, and other such high-risk activities; health supervision; first aid training; and numerous policies and procedures to ensure camp programs operate safely.

Water and sewer data collection
Engineers will be collecting data intermittently through the spring in an area that includes Old Mill Road, Blanchard Road, Lancaster County Road, and Gebo Lane. The work will include wetlands flagging, topographic survey, and geotechnical borings for the design of proposed water and sewer line extensions to Ayer Road. Save your Styrofoam
The Board of Health has arranged for Styrofoam recycling Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Department of Public Works at 47 Depot Road. The recycling company will collect #6 bulk white packing Styrofoam and Styrofoam coolers. All foam must be clean, dry, and free of tape. The recycling company does not accept foam packing peanuts, food containers, or insulation board, and does not accept #4 LDPE expanded polyethylene. Adaptive soccer and Frisbee

Master plan survey
In preparation for an upcoming review of the town’s master plan, the Planning Board seeks input from residents on the prioritization and continuation of goals identified in the 2016 Master Plan Report. An online survey, which should take about 10 minutes, is available on the town website at harvard-ma.gov/planning-board.
Saturday hazardous waste collection
The Devens Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will receive hazardous waste Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 9 Cook Street (rear), Devens. Closed during rain; reopens when rain stops. For information on items accepted, packaging, and fees, visit DevensHHW.com.
Letter carriers’ food drive
The National Letter Carriers’ Food Drive is Saturday, May 10. Residents can fill the bag left by their letter carrier with nonperishable goods and leave it by their mailbox. Goods may also be brought to the post office at 215 Ayer Road during regular hours. All food collected in the area will be brought to Loaves & Fishes and distributed to neighbors in need.
