Allyson Mitchell, who has been the town’s assistant town administrator and human resources director since last August, has resigned. Her last day will be June 20.
Mitchell told the Press she “realized this position and all it entails at this time is not a good fit for me.” She has taken a position as director of human resources for Quabbin Regional School District, closer to Rutland where she lives with her husband and three children.
Town Administrator Dan Nason announced that Mitchell would be leaving at the May 20 Select Board meeting. He thanked Mitchell for the work she did for the town during her short time here and credited her with strengthening and empowering the team at Town Hall. Chair SusanMary Redinger echoed Nason’s appreciation of Mitchell,, saying her work was highly valued by the board. Both said they were sad to see her go.
Mitchell, who began working in Harvard just a few weeks after Nason, told the Press that although she didn’t know him when she came here, she now considers him “a great friend,” and that she will miss him. “Harvard is incredibly lucky to have him,” she added.
Mitchell will be posting her position on the Massachusetts Municipal Association website this week, and she said the town hopes to have her replacement on board before she leaves.
