The girls varsity basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a win against Murdock High School at Bromfield on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Trojans beat the Blue Devils 46-20.

The game started slow, with a scoreless stalemate for the first three minutes of the game. But not for lack of trying. The Trojans went 0 for 10 with shots, the ball circling the rim and popping out as if there were a lid on the hoop. Finally, almost four minutes into the game, senior Kristin Pacl broke the seal and sank the first bucket of the game for Bromfield.
The first half closed with the Trojans up by 6, at 15-9. The break seemed to be what Bromfield needed to reset and come out stronger for the second half. With an aggressive defense, quick steals, and good passing, the ball had a much easier time getting through the net.
“Seniors Ally [Becker], Jo [Camardo, co-captain], and Kristin [Pacl] did a great job leading the charge on their Senior night,” said coach Anne McWaters. “Jo hit two big 3s in the fourth to seal the definitive win. Now we’re looking ahead to the state tournament, hopeful for a first round home game.”
Camardo was the game high scorer with 12 points. The girls are ranked 30th in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association power rankings. Playoff games will likely begin the week of Feb. 24.
