In the past week, police made six motor vehicle stops, two resulting in verbal warnings and four in civil citations that carry a fine. Officers also made two well-being checks, did two mental health evaluations, dealt with three disabled vehicles, and responded to five false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Nov. 5
At 10:12 a.m. an officer responded to a complaint about speeding dump trucks, as well as trucks that were illegally parked, on Old Mill Road. At 5:51 p.m. an officer stopped a car on Slough Road; the driver, a 62-year-old Medford woman, was charged with speeding, driving with a suspended license, and having no inspection sticker; the car was towed.
Wednesday, Nov. 6
At 7:25 a.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident called to say a delivery truck had been driven over the grass and damaged their lawn a few days earlier. At 10:27 a.m. someone complained about a person going door-to-door on Westcott Road, but the person was gone when police searched the area.
Thursday, Nov. 7
At 3:55 a.m. a 911 caller reported a car crash on Route 2 westbound; state police were notified. At 11:16 p.m. another crash was reported, this time on Interstate 495 southbound; again, state police had jurisdiction.
Friday, Nov. 8
At 6:59 a.m. a 911 caller reported a rollover crash on Ayer Road; the driver of the car fled on foot but was stopped by police. After being checked at UMass Memorial Hospital in Leominster, the 23-year-old Westford woman was charged with refusing to produce her driver’s license or registration, driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of property damage, and other moving violations. At 3:34 p.m. a caller reported finding a license plate near the intersection of Bolton and West Bare Hill roads. At 7:38 p.m. Ayer police requested backup support at a domestic dispute between a father and daughter.
Saturday, Nov. 9
At 5:12 p.m. Boxborough police asked for backup at a disturbance on Spencer Road. At 10:17 p.m. Ayer police again sought help from Harvard officers with a verbal dispute at Alltown Fresh.
Sunday, Nov. 10
At 7:34 p.m. a caller reported a loose dog, perhaps a husky, near the schools; the animal control officer was notified.
Monday, Nov. 11
At 11:06 a.m. someone on South Shaker Road asked to speak with the animal control officer about chickens that were being kept in a dog crate.
