In the past week, police made two motor vehicle stops, one resulting in a verbal warning and one in a written warning or citation. Officers also checked on a disabled motor vehicle, made one well-being check, and responded to five false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Aug. 13
At 12:57 a.m. a Brown Road resident called 911 after thinking they saw someone on the deck of their house; police searched but found no one in the area. At 6:42 a.m. a caller reported a paving truck blocking part of Pinnacle Road; a police detail was scheduled for 7 a.m. there, but the pavers had started work a little ahead of time. At 9:40 a.m. an officer spoke with a Spectrum crew whose truck was causing a hazard on Ayer Road, and the truck was moved. At 11:09 a.m. an officer cleared a fallen branch on Poor Farm Road. At 11:05 p.m. a caller told police two racoons were trapped in a dumpster on Ayer Road; the animal control office was notified.
Wednesday, Aug. 14
At 8:19 a.m. an officer saw a tractor-trailer parked in a bad spot while making deliveries on Bolton Road; the officer directed traffic until the truck moved on. At 9:53 a.m. an officer noticed a piece of carpeting that had fallen on Ayer Road from a vehicle on the way to the Transfer Station; the officer located the vehicle there and sent the driver back to get the rug.
Thursday, Aug. 15
At 10:31 a.m. a Poor Farm Road resident called to say someone was blocking the driveway while loading a truck; police told the loader to move the truck.
Friday, Aug. 16
Nothing significant to report.
Saturday, Aug. 17
At 10:54 a.m. someone saw a person throwing trash in a dumpster at the Bromfield School and suspected illegal dumping; but police found it was a teacher cleaning up their classroom for the start of school.
Sunday, Aug.18
At 10:29 a.m. a caller expressed concern about a woman walking barefoot near Still River Road, but police found all was well. At 1:40 p.m. a South Shaker Road resident called with suspicions about a car parked in front of their driveway, but the vehicle was gone when police arrived.
Monday, Aug. 19
At 8:27 a.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called to report a goat had gone missing. (See story, page 1.) At 12:55 p.m. a caller reported a fallen tree branch on Ayer Road, and the DPW was notified.
