Between Tuesday, June 25, and Sunday, June 30, police made three motor vehicle stops, all resulting in verbal warnings. Officers also checked on three disabled motor vehicles, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, June 25
At 2:38 p.m. police were alerted about two people who were at the Oak Ridge Observatory property on Pinnacle Road; both were given notice that they were trespassing. At 3:14 p.m. a collision on Poor Farm Road sent six people to hospitals, as reported in last week’s Press; police said none of the injuries proved to be serious. At 8:13 p.m. a caller reported speeding cars on Still River Road, near Madigan Lane. At 8:19 p.m. an officer dealt with a tree branch down on Ann Lees Road.
Wednesday, June 26
At 4:40 p.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident reported his car had been stolen while he was away. However, he later found it had been parked in the shed, rather than in the garage, and was not missing after all. At 5:34 p.m. someone on West Bare Hill Road reported a scam. At 6:33 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called for help with a raccoon in a trap; the animal control officer was notified. At 8:23 p.m. a caller said a motorcycle was speeding on Still River Road. At 10:17 p.m. a car went off the road on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction.
Thursday, June 27
At 9:23 a.m. a caller reported a tractor-trailer truck had swerved out of its lane and forced her car off Poor Farm Road. At 11:36 a.m. someone told police they had sighted a large fox behind a business on Ayer Road.
Friday, June 28
At 7:08 a.m. a caller complained about a boat speeding on Bare Hill Pond. At 10:35 a.m. a case of illegal dumping on Stow Road was reported. At 11:06 p.m. police told the state Department of Transportation about some blacktop fragments that were creating a hazard on Mass. Ave. At 8:19 p.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident reported loud music had been playing all day in the neighborhood. At 8:31 p.m. a motorcyclist struck a deer on Ayer Road; both the motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to the hospital. At 11:20 p.m. someone reported a loud explosion in the Wescott Road area; police suspect it was fireworks.
Saturday, June 29
At 8:37 a.m. a Woodside Road resident reported receiving rejection letters from credit card companies, despite never having applied for those credit cards.
Sunday, June 30
At 4:16 a.m. a Mass. Ave. resident called for police help with a roommate said to be drunk and out of control; an officer spoke with both parties and calmed the situation. At 12:18 p.m. someone on Warren Avenue reported a hit-and-run case that had taken place some time ago.
