The Harvard Soccer Club’s boys under-16 team won the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League boys grade 9 and 10 league title. Accordng to the team’s coach, Epiphany Vera, the team won all eight of its regular season games with an average 3.25 goal advantage over opponents.
In the league semifinals, held Sunday, June 16, the team won 4-1 against fourth-seeded Berlin. The second- and third-seeded teams concluded their semifinal in a penalty shootout won by second-seeded Ayer Shirley. Harvard went on to have a decisive 5-0 victory over Ayer Shirley to claim the league title.
The team will take part in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions this weekend, competing against seven other teams for the title of Division 1 grade 9 and 10 state champion.
Harvard Soccer Club’s boys U12 team will also compete in the tournament for the Division 2 grade 5 and 6 state championship; the team was runner-up for the league title in their boys grade 5 and 6 age group.
