The Harvard Firefighters and EMS Association accepted a donation of $5,000 from the Minuteman Road Club following the race held May 18 in memory of Ken Harrod.
Ken joined the Harvard Fire Department in 1965 and served for 45 years. His brother, Warren, served for 31 years, and Ken’s son, Greg, served for 32 years. Together Ken’s family provided 108 years of dedicated service to the community. With Ken’s death in 2010, the Harvard Firefighters Association made the decision to honor him by bringing a bike race to Harvard, which had always been one of Ken’s dreams.
