Led by boys outdoor track senior co-captain Jack Stahl, Bromfield clocked several standout performances at this year’s Central Mass. District E championships held May 11 at Ayer Shirley’s Norton Field.
Stahl won the boys 800-meter race with a time of 2 minutes, 1.25 seconds, and Bromfield athletes placed among the top 10 finishers in five other boys events, winning seventh place overall with 42 points. Colin Harte and Christopher Demetros scored second-place finishes in their events, as did the 4×400-meter relay team. Twenty-two schools participated, with Littleton capturing the top spot with 81 points.
The girls placed eighth overall, with 16 athletes competing in 12 different events. The team earned 30.5 points compared to first-place Littleton’s 95 points among the 28 participating schools. Evelyn Wool won third place in the girls 800, followed by Rosie Bradley in fifth place. Grace Beckett won second place in the pole vault, followed by Laci Ostaszewski in fourth.
Both teams are now preparing for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 6 state championships that will be held at Merrimack College in North Andover on May 23 and May 25.
