The postseasons of the Bromfield track and field and the Bromfield Acton-Boxborough rowing teams were winding down last week, but others were just beginning.
The boys and girls track and field teams competed in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 6 state championships, the boys placing fourth and the girls 13th, with athletes on both teams scoring well in individual events. Meanwhile, the BA-B rowers made a splash at the Massachusetts Public School Rowing Association regatta at Lowell.
In spite of a devastating forfeiture last week that played havoc with the team’s power ranking, the girls lacrosse team made a stunning recovery, winning its two Central Mass. nonplayoff games decisively and earning a place in the MIAA Division 4 state tournament that gets underway May 31.
State tournaments for baseball and boys and girls tennis were also scheduled to get underway Friday, May 31. Brackets for tennis have been announced, but those for baseball and girls lacrosse were yet to come as this week’s paper was being assembled.

- 5/23 and 5/25 MIAA Division 6 state championships. Boys placed fourth among 49 competitors with 33 points. Amesbury and Littleton tied for first with 69 points. Bromfield’s Christopher Demetros won the pole vault with a leap of 14 feet. See story, page 9.

Girls outdoor track and field (2-2, 2-2)
- 5/23 and 5/25 MIAA Division 6 state championships. Girls placed 13th among 41 schools with 20.5 points. Mount Greylock Regional won the meet with 97 points. Bromfield’s Grace Beckett won the pole vault clearing the bar at 10 feet, 6 inches. See story, page 9.
