In the past week, police made seven motor vehicle stops; four resulted in verbal warnings, two in written warnings or citations, and one in no action. Officers also checked on two disabled motor vehicles, made one well-being check, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, May 7
At 8:03 a.m. a Department of Public Works employee reported a car had sideswiped his streetsweeper near the intersection of East Bare Hill and Brown roads, causing minor damage; the car had driven off. At 9:15 a.m. there was a two-car collision on Ayer Road; no one was injured.
Wednesday, May 8
At 4:24 a.m. a driver on Ayer Road ran out of gas and called 911; an officer gave the caller a lift to the gas station and back. At 11:29 p.m. an officer saw a car at the town beach; the occupants were advised to leave as the beach was closed for the night.
Thursday, May 9
At 5:20 p.m. a woman turned in a wallet she had found on Myrick Lane. At 10:07 p.m. a caller reported her mother had lost her purse that evening at a meeting at the Historical Society. At 11:58 p.m. Harvard police were called to back up Boxborough officers at a car crash on Old Harvard Road and Pierce Lane. No one needed ambulance transport, but a 25-year-old Boxborough man received a summons for a marked lanes violation, negligent operation, and leaving the scene of a collision with property damage.
Friday, May 10
At 9:27 a.m. an officer saw a construction truck partially blocking Still River Road and told the driver to move. At 9:36 a.m. a caller reported an animal carcass on Prospect Hill Road, and the DPW was asked to remove it. At 9:03 p.m. Harvard officers were called to back up Bolton police who were dealing with an unruly crowd after a sports event at Nashoba Regional High School.
Saturday, May 11
At 12:10 p.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car collision on Ayer Road; no one was injured, but at least one car needed a tow. At 8:58 p.m. someone called with suspicions about a person standing near the construction site for the new pavilion at the library; police found nothing amiss.
Sunday, May 12
At 9:34 a.m. a Woodchuck Hill Road resident complained about construction work at a neighbor’s house. At 1:14 p.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car collision on Ayer Road; the crash had taken place at the ramp from Route 2, so state police were informed.
Monday, May 13
At 12:16 a.m. a caretaker reported a car at the old Oak Hill Observatory on Pinnacle Road. With a Boxborough officer as backup, Harvard police told the three occupants of the car that they were trespassing and must move along. Police then checked the area for damage and found none. At 12:24 p.m. an officer noted some suspicious activity at the elementary school playground and investigated. Later, at 4:44 p.m., the elementary school principal called police to report finding that some profanity and a racial slur had been carved into one of the slides on the playground; the school was having the words sanded out. At 5:23 p.m. officers were called to a dispute on Littleton County Road, but both people involved denied the need for police.
