The Harvard Lions Club has donated $5,000 to Community Harvest Project, a nonprofit farm with locations in central Massachusetts, including 75 acres in Harvard. The farm provides opportunities for volunteers to grow, tend, and harvest fruits and vegetables for hunger relief. The donation will purchase two forklift ramps, allowing easier and safer movement of 200,000 pounds of fresh fruit into and out of refrigeration units. The mission of the Lions includes support for organizations working to relieve hunger and food insecurity. Roughly half of funds raised are donated to local organizations.
