The Friends of the Harvard Public Library wish to thank a long list of Harvardians for helping us run a hugely successful book sale this past weekend. This was our most successful book sale ever and the proceeds will continue to help fund much of the library’s fantastic programming.
Thanks to everyone who donated to the very large number of books which we then transferred to hundreds of other folks eager to read them.
Thanks to our many volunteers who spent countless hours organizing said books so they were easy (more or less) to find and purchase. This process involves a lot of analysis to figure out categories for thousands of books as well as much heavy lifting. I also want to thank our new FOHPL committee who has done a huge amount of work to make us more effective.
Thanks to Harvard Public Library staff, trustees, and patrons for putting up with us for almost a month of disruption in their wonderful spaces at our beloved library.
Thanks to the Lions Club for letting us borrow their tables and to the Garden Club for lending us “berry flats.” Thanks to the Harvard Press for getting the word out about the event. Thanks to the Board of Health for lending us tables. And, new this year, a huge thank-you to Doe Orchards for letting us use their “Squares,” which allowed us to accept credit cards for the first time ever. We have no doubt this resulted in significantly increased sales.
Most importantly, thanks to the many Harvardians who support us. You, our donors and shoppers, are why we can do this every year.
The Harvard Public Library is one of the most effective organizations I have ever seen. I think all of our supporters and library patrons understand this. We are so proud to be a part of this institution that helps make our little town a great place to live.
