The Ambulance Service responded to 10 calls and transported five patients to the hospital, two with advanced life support services on board. There were five motor vehicle collisions. No one needed a lift assist.
Tuesday, Jan. 16
At 12:27 p.m. firefighters and the ambulance crew were called to a four-vehicle pileup on Route 2 westbound, in which a tractor-trailer had jackknifed and blocked the road. With the Harvard ambulance unable to get past the wreck, ambulances from Ayer and Devens came east in the westbound lane to take two people to the hospital; three others refused transport. Firefighters stayed on the scene for about two hours, providing safety and clearing debris, until the vehicles were towed. At 1:09 p.m. Engine 4 was called to Madigan Lane, where carbon monoxide had set off an alarm in the garage because of a furnace problem. The engine crew vented the building and told the homeowner to call someone to service the furnace. Shortly after 2 p.m. firefighters were called to two more vehicle crashes, but both calls were canceled. At 6:44 p.m. they responded to a crash on Route 2 westbound and provided scene safety. Meanwhile, at 6:54 p.m., an Ayer Road resident was ordered to extinguish an outdoor fire that was still burning after permitted hours.
Wednesday, Jan. 17
At 7:51 a.m. firefighters were called to a crash on Route 2 westbound, but the call was canceled when the Littleton Fire Department handled the matter.
Friday, Jan. 19
At 6:32 a.m. a call came in about a crash on Route 2 eastbound, but again Littleton was able to deal with it and the call to Harvard was canceled.
Sunday, Jan. 21
At 11:41 a.m. Harvard was called to a crash on Interstate 495 southbound, but the call was canceled.
