In the past eight days, police made 13 motor vehicle stops; seven resulted in verbal warnings, four in written warnings, and two with no warning or citation. Officers also dealt with two disabled vehicles.
Monday, Nov. 20
At 2:05 p.m. state police called to say a golden retriever was running loose in traffic on Route 2 and then ran into the woods; the animal control officer was notified. At 3:30 p.m. a company notified police that its representatives would be repossessing a car on Stow Road. At 4:46 p.m. a caller told police a man carrying bolt cutters had tried to break in at the old Oak Hill Observatory on Pinnacle Road. An officer checked the building and found it was still secure.
Tuesday, Nov. 21
At 3:12 p.m. there was a minor collision near Town Hall; no one was injured. At 3:45 p.m. someone turned in a lost debit card; the owner was notified and retrieved it at the station.
Wednesday, Nov. 22
At 7:05 a.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 9:24 a.m. a fallen tree limb was reported in the roadway near the intersection of Littleton Road and Cruft Lane. At 3:54 p.m. a caller said utility wires to a house on Still River Road were down; National Grid and Spectrum were notified.
Thursday, Nov. 23
Thankfully, there was nothing significant to report.
Friday, Nov. 24
At 5:21 a.m. Boxborough police asked for assistance at a building on Wheeler Drive where a burglar alarm was sounding. At 4:22 p.m. a caller reported a window was propped open at a vacant house on Pond Road; police found the window did not provide access to the house. At 7:12 p.m. someone called 911 about a beagle loose on Still River Road; animal control was informed. At 9:16 p.m. Harvard police assisted Boxborough officers, who suspected a breaking and entering might be in progress at a Mass. Ave. building; police searched the area but found no one.
Saturday, Nov. 25
At 10:12 a.m. someone called with suspicions about a car said to be “hanging around” Still River Road; units were advised. At 5:24 p.m. a 911 caller on Ayer Road said she had driven over something that fell off a truck just in front of her; her car needed a tow.
Sunday, Nov. 26
At 2:30 a.m. someone reported a car had gone across the lawn and driveway at a house on Mass. Ave. near the town center, leaving debris strewn about. Police arrested Cameron Chaves, 20, of Hudson, for operating under the influence of alcohol; shortly after 8 a.m., he also received a summons for leaving the scene of property damage. At 9:31 a.m. a caller reported damage to a fence on Still River Road; it is unclear whether the incidents are related. At 1:35 p.m. someone came to the police station to report the theft of some firewood.
Monday, Nov. 27
Around 9 a.m. police received two calls about a fox that had been struck by a car on Ayer Road. At 11:09 a.m. a Jacob Gates Road resident reported a driver had dropped off some hunters in camo and carrying guns; they had crossed her property and gone into the conservation land nearby. The case remains under investigation. At 12:48 p.m. Boxborough police asked for assistance at a domestic dispute on Spencer Road.
