In the past week police made 29 motor vehicle stops; six resulted in verbal warnings, 22 in citations or written warnings, and one with no recorded outcome. Officers also dealt with one well-being check, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Dec. 12
At 6:53 a.m. an officer noticed a big ice patch at the intersection of Pond Road and Mass. Ave.; the Department of Public Works was requested to sand it for safety. At 7:10 a.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction.
Wednesday, Dec. 13
At 8:51 a.m. a Highland Avenue resident reported the cap to his septic tank cover was missing. At 1:04 p.m. Boxborough police asked for backup for a possible arrest, but no help was needed. At 5:08 p.m. an officer stopped a driver at the Route 2 exit for driving without lights and found that the 45-year-old Lawrence resident had no license; the driver received a summons for both violations, and the car was towed. At 9:19 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called to say a man had left the house and had not returned. Police searched the area with drones and dogs and also tried to locate his cellphone, but to no avail.
Thursday, Dec. 14
At 12:48 p.m. a Tahanto Trail resident called 911 to report suspicious activity; police checked the area but found nothing amiss. At 8:32 p.m. a Defense Department officer reported hearing a gunshot near Still River Depot Road; police investigated but did not find the source of the shot.
Friday, Dec. 15
At 1:42 p.m. a person on Fairbank Street reported a driver for going the wrong way on the one-way section of that street; an officer spoke with both the reporting party and the driver.
Saturday, Dec. 16
At 9:36 a.m. Boxborough police called for backup at a possible case of domestic violence in progress at the gas station on Mass. Ave., but no assistance from Harvard proved necessary. At 3:06 p.m. a caller reported being chased by a large, white dog on Littleton County Road; no one was bitten.
Sunday, Dec. 17
At 12:17 p.m. an officer removed a fallen tree branch on Bolton Road. At 4:41 p.m. police notified a resident of a relative’s death. At 7:32 p.m. Stow police asked officers from Harvard, Boxborough, Bolton, and the state police for assistance in locating a 45-year-old Stow man who had allegedly brandished a gun and made threats to harm himself and others. The man was later taken into custody in Waltham.
Monday, Dec. 18
At 12:03 a.m. a caller reported hearing seven or eight gunshots near Prospect Hill Road, after which a car drove away rapidly. Police searched the area with no result and say the noise may have been fireworks. From dawn until late night, the high winds and rain led to numerous calls to police. Fallen trees, broken branches, or downed wires were reported on Oak Hill, Cleaves Hill, West Bare Hill, Scott, Littleton County, Whitney, Ann Lees, Ayer, and South Shaker roads, as well as Warren Avenue and Tahanto Trail. By afternoon, residents were reporting flooded basements or flooding roads on Stow and Poor Farm roads. At 9:10 a.m. a caller reported a crash on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 12:30 p.m. an officer filed a report of threats at a Turner Lane residence. At 1:48 p.m. someone on Still River Road reported finding a black-and-white striped cat that was lost out in the rain; the animal control officer was notified. At 2:56 p.m. a school bus driver needed help turning the bus around after finding Tahanto Trail blocked by a fallen tree. At 5:25 p.m. police were called to Poor Farm Road, where someone was preventing a tow truck from removing a car.
