Tuesday, Dec. 12
At 7:10 a.m. Engine 2 was called to two car crashes on Route 2 eastbound; the crew provided scene safety.
Wednesday, Dec. 13
At 10:53 a.m. two people reported feeling unwell at an Ayer Road office, and the duty officer was called to check for carbon monoxide; none was found.
Saturday, Dec. 16
At 12:11 p.m. a carbon monoxide detector went off at a Depot Road home; the duty officer checked the house and found the problem was an expired detector, which the homeowner was advised to replace. At 5:47 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to a house on Bolton Road, but the call was canceled when the resident reported the smoke was from cooking, which the duty officer confirmed at the scene.
Sunday, Dec. 17
At 3:32 p.m. a 911 call came from a West Bare Hill Road house where the smoke alarm was chirping; the duty officer found it had a low battery that should be replaced.
Monday, Dec. 18
At 9:10 a.m. Engine 2 was called to the accident on Route 2, where a tree had fallen on a car; the crew helped clean the site. During the afternoon, firefighters were called to four houses where basements were flooding. At 3:35 p.m. they went to an Old Mill Road home where they found 3-4 feet of water in the basement; the water was impinging on the oil burner, creating a hazard, so they pumped out the water. At 4:15 p.m. a similar call came in from Trail Ridge Way, where the owners were already running pumps; firefighters shut off the furnace for safety. At 7:06 p.m. the duty officer was called to Poor Farm Road because of a downed wire; National Grid arrived at the same time and shut off power.
