In the past week police made two motor vehicle stops; one resulted in a verbal warning and the other in a summons. Officers also issued or renewed two firearms permits and responded to three false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Nov. 7
At 8:01 a.m. a caller reported an attempted scam by text message, but no money had changed hands. At 12:22 p.m. someone called about a black Labradoodle wandering near Prospect Hill Road. At 1:14 p.m. a caller told police about a car crash on the Route 2 east onramp from Ayer Road, but the car was gone when police arrived. At 5:45 p.m. a hunter called 911 to report his game camera had shown someone hunting illegally near Brown Road; the Massachusetts Environmental Police were notified.
Wednesday, Nov. 8
At 6:19 a.m. a caller reported a horse loose on West Bare Hill Road; the caller secured the horse, and the owner was notified. At 9:26 a.m. an officer stopped a car on Poor Farm Road and issued a summons to a 48-year-old Ayer Road resident for driving with a suspended registration in a car lacking an inspection sticker; the vehicle was towed. At 11:50 a.m. a Park Lane resident called police to say less firewood had been delivered to him than he had paid for; an officer told him it was a civil issue.
Thursday, Nov. 9
At 1:40 a.m. someone on Stow Road called to say their burglar alarm was going off; an officer went through the house with them, but found no intruder. At 8:55 p.m. a caller reported suspicions about a car on Blanchard Road, but the car was gone when police arrived.
Friday, Nov. 10
At 12:52 p.m. two New Hampshire teenagers were taken into custody and charged with breaking into a building at the old Oak Ridge Observatory on Pinnacle Road. As a juvenile, the 16-year-old received a summons and was released to his parents. Matthew McLeod, 18, of Manchester, was arrested and later released on bail. At 4:55 p.m. a Pinnacle Road resident reported a missing Portuguese water dog; the animal was found a little later. At 10:31 p.m. someone called 911 to say they had seen two horses—a mare and a foal—go into the woods along Old Littleton Road; the caller planned to search for them. At 11:23 p.m. state police dealt with a crash on Route 2 westbound.
Saturday, Nov. 11
At 12:22 a.m. the person searching for the mare and foal called again to say they had been unable to find the animals and would continue looking for them in the morning. At 2:29 a.m. an Ann Lees Road resident reported a person was harassing them by phone. At 6:06 p.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction.
Sunday, Nov. 12
At 7:22 p.m. a caller reported hearing gunshots near their home on Under Pin Hill Road; police searched the area to no avail.
Monday, Nov. 13
At 10:22 a.m. an officer filed a report on a car that had been involved in an earlier incident of road rage. At 5:39 p.m. a crash on the offramp from Route 2 was referred to state police. At 6:08 p.m. a 911 caller reported an injured deer lying on Ayer Road; an officer removed its carcass. At 7:44 p.m. a caller reported hitting the deer earlier. At 8 p.m. a Bolton Road resident called 911 asking for help from the animal control officer in sedating an unruly horse that had gotten loose. But the animal control officer did not have the resources for the problem and said the job required a veterinarian.
