The girls and boys cross-country teams have both qualified to race at next week’s Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 all-state cross-country meet. The girls were first in their group and the boys placed fourth in theirs at the state qualifiers held yesterday, Nov. 11, at Northfield Mountain Recreation Center.
With 60 Division 3 schools and runners competing for spots at the state meet, Saturday’s field was divided into three waves of roughly 20 schools apiece. The girls easily won first place in wave 3C with 49 points, led by junior Evelyn Wool, who placed third with a time of 19 minutes, 29.64 seconds. Sophomore Rosie Bradley and Junior Isabel Jackson were also among the top ten finishers.
The boys placed fourth in their wave with a score of 110, led by sophomore Christian Johannesen, who placed 18th with a time of 17:58.46.
Both teams will race for the 2023 MIAA Division 3 state title next weekend, Nov. 18, at Devens. Look for details in the Nov. 17 issue of the Press.
