Honoring our veterans
There will be a Veterans Day ceremony, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. on the Common. The featured guest speaker will be retired Marine Col. Jim Wilson, and a wreath will be placed at the flagpole. The timing of the event marks the armistice ending World War I, which took effect on Nov. 11, 1918, at 11 a.m.

Devens road race
The Journey Home 5K and 10K road race takes place Sunday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m., at 84 Antietam Street, Devens. Proceeds will benefit Clear Path for Veterans, a wellness-based veterans community center. Historical Society annual meeting
The annual meeting of the Harvard Historical Society will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 215 Still River Road. The business meeting starts at 7 p.m.; at 7:30, the program, “Mozart and Marteney,” will feature oboes handcrafted in the style of Mozart’s era by former Harvard resident Eugene Marteney with Mozart-era music, social time, and refreshments to follow. WBN meeting
The Women’s Business Network will meet Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., to host the Wine, Women, Wares, and Song event at the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden, 145 Bolton Road. Members can set up table displays; to do so, RSVP at dboliva@charter.net.
WBN is a volunteer-run networking group of women in small businesses, professional practices, nonprofits, and the arts who meet monthly for mutual support, education, and networking. Guests are welcome.

Holiday fair at St. Andrew’s
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 7 Faulkner Street, Ayer, will host its annual holiday fair Saturday, Nov. 11, starting at 10 a.m., featuring the Harvard alpacas and free hot chocolate to sip while browsing stained glass, knits, gift baskets, maps, handmade bags, baked goods, and Thanksgiving pies for preordering.

The play’s the thing
The Concord Players, 51 Walden Street, Concord, will present “The Play That Goes Wrong,” the story of the Cornley Drama Society and the multitude of accidents and problems that threaten their production, through Nov. 18.

Artist’s reception
Gallery Sitka, 2 Shaker Road, Shirley, will hold a reception Friday, Nov. 17, at 5:30 p.m., for its exhibit “A Contemporary Ode to Monet,” by abstract painter Rux Darie. The reception is open to all with no admission fee. Gallery hours are Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to noon, and by appointment.
