In the past week, police made eight motor vehicle stops, resulting in five verbal warnings, one written warning, and two civil citations, which carry a fine. They also made five well-being checks and responded to two false burglar alarms.
The Ambulance Service responded to six calls and transported four patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. There was one motor vehicle accident but no lift assists.
Tuesday, Sept. 26
At 4:01 p.m. a 911 caller reported a one-car crash on Ayer Road; no one was injured. At 8:55 p.m. someone called to complain about a parked car that was blocking Abbot Lane; the car was out of gas, and AAA had been called.
Wednesday, Sept. 27
At 1:38 a.m. a residential burglar alarm went off at a house on Poor Farm Road; police found it had been set off accidentally. At 3:18 p.m. a caller reported that wires were down and a utility pole was damaged on Ayer Road. Police searched the area for a damaged car but did not find one; National Grid was notified. At 6:30 p.m. police received the first of several calls complaining about a noisy group at the Prospect Hill overlook. At 7:18 p.m. a 911 caller said people at the overlook were shining flashlights at the windshields of passing cars and jumping into the road. Patrol units were advised to check the area.
Thursday, Sept. 28
At 7:10 p.m. a 911 caller told police three motorcyclists were speeding and weaving on Ayer Road. At 8:02 p.m. an officer checked out a truck near the Transfer Station on Depot Road; the driver was picking up donated items.
Friday, Sept. 29
At 12:29 a.m. state police notified police in Harvard and several other towns that a car they were following had exited Interstate 495; Ayer police said the car might have driven toward Lunenburg. At 9:45 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car driving on the wrong side of Ayer Road.
Saturday, Sept. 30
At 12:43 a.m. someone on Littleton County Road called to complain of noisy construction work going on nearby, but all seemed quiet when police arrived. At 2:29 p.m. a caller reported a sick fox on Bolton Road, one of a number of such calls in Harvard and nearby towns resulting from an outbreak of mange among foxes; the animal control officer was notified. At 2:33 p.m. a caller reported that some of the markers in the Shaker Cemetery had been knocked over. At 10:49 p.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 11:41 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called to say their dog was missing, but it came home about 15 minutes later.
Sunday, Oct. 1
At 2:01 a.m. a caller reported loud music coming from the woods near Old Littleton Road; police found the source of the noise seemed to be in Littleton, and police there were notified. At 5:59 p.m. a caller told police a car was speeding on Still River Depot Road; it was gone when police arrived. At 7:51 p.m. an erratic driver was reported heading north on Ayer Road, and Ayer police were alerted. At 8:18 p.m. an Oak Hill Road resident called 911, saying a car had driven across the driveway and the lawn and onto a neighbor’s property.
Monday, Oct. 2
At 12:01 p.m. police received another call about a sick fox in the Bolton Road neighborhood. At 7:44 p.m. an officer found a car parked in a hazardous location on Poor Farm Road and told the driver to move the vehicle.
