Wednesday, Sept. 6
At 5:25 a.m. a fire alarm was reported at a Bolton Road home. Firefighters found a faulty detector in the kitchen; they cleaned the detector and reinstalled it.
Friday, Sept. 8
At 2:54 p.m. lightning hit the DPW building, destroying the fire alarm system and some of the building’s electrical outlets. Firefighters checked the building and found no smoke or fire. At 3:35 p.m. a carbon monoxide detector went off at an Ayer Road building; the problem was a bad battery. At 5:22 p.m. firefighters were called to a car fire on Route 2 westbound, but the call was canceled.
Saturday, Sept. 9
From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Harvard Fire Department carried out live training with a burn on Peninsula Road. The Ayer Fire Department provided coverage during the day. At 11:31 a.m. Ayer firefighters went to a Whitney Road home in response to an alarm that may have been set off by burned food.
Sunday, Sept. 10
At 11:49 a.m. a carbon monoxide detector went off at a house on Prospect Hill Road; it was a false alarm. At 2:23 p.m. a Stow Road resident called 911 about a problem with the electrical panel, on which a breaker had tripped.
Monday, Sept. 11
At 7:15 p.m. an alarm company reported a problem at a building on Still River Road; firefighters found water had gotten into the smoke detector.
