Harvard has a new town clerk. Rose Miranda, most recently the assistant clerk for the town of Sudbury, started work at Town Hall Monday, July 24.

Miranda replaces Lynn Kelly, whose last day in office, according to Town Administrator Tim Bragan, was June 30. Kelly, he said, had decided to pursue other opportunities and gave her notice earlier that month.
According to an email from Assistant Town Administrator Marie Sobalvarro to Town Hall staff July 11, Miranda is a certified municipal clerk with six years of experience as assistant town clerk in Sudbury and 15 years’ experience as assistant town clerk and budget analyst in Ashland. In her email, Sobalvarro wrote that Miranda “impressed the interviewing team with her calm competence, her interest in small town government, and her extensive experience with municipal elections and mentoring.”
Miranda was introduced at the Select Board meeting Tuesday, where she talked briefly about her previous work in Sudbury.
“I’m happy to be here,” she said, after being welcomed by the chair, Rich Maiore.
The town clerk is responsible for providing any member of the public with election results and responding to public records requests. Some of the clerk’s other duties include conducting elections, recording the actions of town meetings, issuing marriage licenses and dog licenses, and providing notary public services. The town clerk’s office also conducts the annual town census.
