The Harvard Fire Department responded to 39 incidents in July and has received 11 calls so far in August. Twelve of the calls were to car crashes.
According to a Fire Department spokesperson, only one incident involved a structure fire. At 1:45 a.m. Sunday, July 16, a 911 alarm sent Engines 1 and 2, the tower truck, and the tanker to a Littleton County Road home where firefighters encountered smoke in the basement. They traced the smoke to a burning electrical connection hidden under a shelving unit. They then shut off the power to the connection and vented the smoke.
The fire log is written by a Harvard Press reporter based on information gleaned from daily dispatch logs and interviews with fire department staff.
