At 7:16 p.m. firefighters were called to a smoke-filled house on Stow Road. The source of the smoke was difficult to locate but was finally traced to a furnace filter that had caught fire from arcing wires. The fire was extinguished, and the crew used fans to ventilate the house.
Wednesday, Aug. 16
At 4:28 p.m. a smoke alarm sounded at a Stow Road residence while no one was home. Firefighters responded but found no smoke or fire. The alarm could not be reset; the homeowner was notified.
Thursday, Aug. 17
At 9:38 a.m. firefighters from both Harvard and Littleton responded to a five-car collision on Route 2 eastbound; one person needed ambulance transport, and four cars had to be towed. The fire crews cleaned up debris and fluids that had spilled. At 3:58 p.m. a 911 caller reported a small pickup with an engine fire on Route 2 westbound. Engine 2 responded and found that a passerby with a fire extinguisher had mostly put out the fire. The firefighters doused the parts that were still smoking and stood by until the pickup was towed.
Friday, Aug. 18
At 10:30 a.m. Littleton called for mutual aid after an Oak Ridge Road resident reported a lightning strike on their home. The Harvard tanker stood by at the scene until it was clear no fire had resulted from the strike.
