In the past week, police made 12 motor vehicle stops, resulting in three verbal warnings, five written warnings, and two civil citations, which carry a fine; two stops were unclassified. They also made one well-being check, responded to four false burglar alarms, and checked on two disabled vehicles.
The Ambulance Service responded to six calls and transported four patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. There were no motor vehicle collisions, and no residents needed a lift assist.
Tuesday, May 2
At 2:32 p.m. a 911 caller reported someone driving recklessly on Ayer Road, but the car was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, May 3
At 3:41 p.m. a caller told police about seeing a black SUV behind an Ayer Road building around 10:30 the night before; the caller suspected a man and a woman in the vehicle might have been dealing drugs. At 6 p.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident called because a car had pulled into her driveway; a For Sale sign was posted at the house, and an officer told the driver to call the real estate agent if interested, rather than driving up to the house.
Thursday, May 4
At 12:48 a.m. an alarm company reported a burglar alarm going off at the Hildreth Elementary School; an officer checked and secured the building. At noon, a woman told police two fraudulent debit cards had been taken out in her husband’s name; he is in military service and is posted abroad. At 12:22 p.m. a woman came to the police station because someone had opened a National Grid account in her name, and the unpaid bill from that account had been sent to a collection agency, which was now calling her for the money. At 3:51 p.m. police and the co-response clinician worked on a family intervention leading to referrals for support services.
Friday, May 5
At 12:54 a.m. an officer checked on an unfamiliar vehicle behind a building on Lancaster County Road. At 8:27 a.m. an Eldridge Road resident reported two men dressed in camouflage and carrying long rifles in the caller’s back yard; it is turkey-hunting season, and the property was not posted for no hunting. (The amended bylaw requiring written permission from the owner for hunting on private property is not yet in effect, police explained.) At 5:22 p.m. someone on Poor Farm Road called with suspicions about a car parked at the end of their driveway; an officer found the car had run out of gas but was being refueled.
Saturday, May 6
At 10:29 a.m. someone turned in a necklace found at the elementary school playground; the owner can claim it at the police station. At 11:47 a.m. a 911 caller reported her purse had been stolen, but she later called to say she had found it in her house. At 12:09 p.m. Boxborough police asked Harvard officers to be on the lookout for a person who was found shortly thereafter. At 10:22 p.m. a caller reported that a dog had been left outside an Abbot Lane residence and had barked for hours; police called the homeowner, who was out of town, and the homeowner in turn called the housesitter.
Sunday, May 7
A 7:37 a.m. someone turned in keys found on Old Littleton Road; they are still at the station.
Monday, May 8
At 9:05 p.m. a South Shaker Road resident called to report a case of identity theft. At 11:05 p.m. an officer checked on a truck with an open door and no license plates; it was parked at an Ayer Road business and may have been unused..
