By the time the deadline for filing nomination papers with the town clerk arrived this week, the list of candidates for the two open positions on the School Committee had grown to five. And races for town moderator and the Warner Free Lecture Trust are now also competitive. Incumbents are still running unopposed for the Select Board and the library trustees—unless someone decides to mount a write-in campaign.
Harvard voters will have a chance to question those running for office at Candidates Night Tuesday, April 25, in upper Town Hall. The public can attend in person, but the event will also be available on Zoom and live-streamed by Harvard Cable TV. Candidates Night is sponsored jointly by the League of Women Voters and the Harvard Press. Next week’s Press will explain how to submit questions for the candidates.
Town Clerk Lynn Kelly told the Press that everyone who took out nomination papers had turned them in by the 5 p.m. deadline Tuesday, April 4, and that the signatures for every candidate had been certified.
Town Election will be held Tuesday, May 9, with voting at the Bromfield School cafeteria. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
