In the past week, police made 18 motor vehicle stops, resulting in eight verbal warnings, eight written warnings, and two civil citations, which carry a fine. They also issued or renewed one firearm permit, checked on two disabled motor vehicles, helped one person who was locked out of a vehicle, and responded to five false burglar alarms.
The Ambulance Service received five calls and transported three patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. Ambulance crews responded to two motor vehicle collisions; no one required a lift assist.
Tuesday, March 21
At 4:25 p.m. a Woodside Road resident said a Federal Express van driver who was making a delivery had his radio playing so loudly that it could be a hazard for distracted driving; however, the event had taken place an hour earlier. At 6:24 p.m. an officer tried to serve a harassment or restraining order at a Trail Ridge Way home; a second attempt at 7:27 p.m. succeeded.
Wednesday, March 22
At 2:01 p.m. a 911 caller reported a disabled vehicle on Interstate 495 northbound; the information was forwarded to state police. At 2:30 p.m. a Peninsula Road resident came to the police station to report a lost or stolen license plate; however, the resident found the plate a few days later. At 5:17 p.m. a caller on West Bare Hill Road notified police about an attempted phone scam. At 6:51 p.m. someone called with concerns about an unsecured building on Lancaster County Road, saying a person or an animal might get inside. Police asked the caller to close the building up, which they did.
Thursday, March 23
At 8:51 a.m. a Simon Atherton Row resident reported a fraudulent unemployment claim had been filed in his name. At 9:48 a.m. someone called about an erratic driver on Ayer Road; an officer located the car and found the driver was not impaired. At 3:56 p.m. police received a 911 call about a juvenile problem. At 5:58 p.m. a woman came to the station and filed a report about a case of sexual harassment.
Friday, March 24
At 3:51 p.m. a 911 caller said a car had gone off the road near the intersection of Littleton Road and Cruft Lane, and the airbag had deployed. The driver refused ambulance transport but accepted a ride home from police; a tow truck was called for the car.
Saturday, March 25
At 12:02 p.m. a woman came to the police station to request an emergency restraining order; the order was served at 2:03 p.m. at an Old Littleton Road home.
Sunday, March 26
At 2:11 a.m. a car crash involving injuries was reported on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 6:28 a.m. someone called 911 to report a one-car crash on Bolton Road; no one was injured. At 8:01 a.m. a caller asked police to check on a co-worker who was not responding to text messages; police made contact with the Tahanto Trail resident and found all was well.
Monday, March 27
At 2:18 p.m. someone called to say a truck parked on Ayer Road was creating a hazard for other drivers, but the truck was gone when police checked the area.
