In the past week police made 10 motor vehicle stops, resulting in six verbal warnings, two written warnings, and two civil citations, which carry a fine. Officers also checked on two disabled vehicles and responded to a false burglar alarm.
The Ambulance Service responded to six calls and transported three patients to the hospital, none with Advanced Life Support onboard. The ambulance responded to two motor vehicle collisions. One patient required a lift assist.
Tuesday, Jan. 31
At 3:30 a.m. police notified the Department of Public Works that roads in town were becoming icy. At 8:40 a.m. a juvenile prisoner was taken to the address of the Worcester County sheriff’s office in West Boylston. At 11:44 a.m. a caller reported a case of fraud. At 1:19 p.m. someone called 911 to say a maroon sedan had passed the caller’s car at high speed in a school zone on Still River Road; the maroon car was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, Feb. 1
At 10:01 a.m. the state Department of Transportation asked for an officer to do traffic control while state workers removed a low-hanging branch on Mass. Ave. near Slough Road. At 5:55 p.m. a 911 caller reported three youths in ski masks near the Bromfield School; an officer spoke with them and their parents picked them up soon afterward.
Thursday, Feb. 2
At 12:34 a.m. an officer on patrol noticed three cars at the Prospect Hill overlook; as the area is closed at that hour, the occupants were told to move on. At 12:56 p.m. an Ann Lees Road resident called, telling police she had found fragments from a blue car near her smashed mailbox. At 8:30 p.m. someone on Pinnacle Road called to complain that a company was cutting trees nearby, but police did not locate anyone doing so.
Friday, Feb. 3
At 12:56 p.m. police took a report of an unemployment scam and referred it to the state Division of Unemployment Assistance. At 2:20 p.m. someone reported a brown Labradoodle wandering in the Woodside Road neighborhood, and the animal control officer was informed. At 6:02 p.m. someone came to the station to request a restraining order. At 10:10 p.m. an officer removed a downed tree branch on East Bare Hill Road.
Saturday, Feb. 4
At 10:57 a.m. a caller reported a car being driven recklessly and erratically toward Bolton, so Bolton police were alerted.
Sunday, Feb. 5
At 1:58 a.m. a 911 caller reported a water pipe had burst in an apartment on Prospect Hill Road; police called and woke the landlord, who lived in the same building, to alert him to the issue. At 11:22 a.m. a passerby saw people on the ice on Bare Hill Pond and called 911 with concerns about their safety; patrol units were advised. At 12:42 p.m. a caller reported hearing an alarm going off on Pond Road; police determined it was a sewer alarm and notified the DPW. At 8:28 p.m. Ayer police asked for assistance in making an arrest.
Monday, Feb. 6
At 11:40 a.m. a Still River Road resident called police asking for help in contacting a person who was expected to give him a ride.
