Each year in June the Harvard Select Board makes appointments to town boards, committees, and commissions. Become a patient advisor
Nashoba Valley Medical Center is seeking community members for its Patient and Family Advisory Council. Community members must either have been a patient of NVMC or have a family member who uses the hospital, and must be concerned with improving health care in the local area. Fourth Annual Civics Cup
The League of Women Voters of Harvard will host the Harvard Civics Cup Sunday, March 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Upper Town Hall; snow date is March 12. The Civics Cup is a team competition for grades 8-12 with questions about U.S. citizenship and government. This year’s theme is “The U.S. Supreme Court.”
Members of the top three teams can win prizes including gift cards to area businesses such as the Harvard General Store, The Silver Unicorn Bookstore, and West Side Creamery. Winners will be awarded the Civics Cup trophy to be displayed at their school with the names of all first-place team members, and also win a tour of the Massachusetts State House.

Awards available to high school seniors
Each spring, the Harvard Woman’s Club gives scholar awards to high school seniors who are actively involved in community service and are graduating from the Bromfield School, or who are Harvard residents graduating from the Parker Charter Essential School, Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science, or other public secondary schools. Intake center accepting donations
The Emergency Assistance Intake Center at Devens is accepting donations of hygiene items; baby formula and food; diapers and wipes; clothing; and other items. Donations can be left at the Department of Public Works at 99 Buena Vista Street, Devens, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information or to make a monetary donation, email Meg Delorier at mdelorier@massdevelopment.com.
Loaves & Fishes
This food pantry, 234 Barnum Road, Devens, offers drive-thru access on the first Tuesday of the month from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon. (It is closed the Friday prior to the third Saturday of every month.) Upcoming dates are Feb. 18, 22, and 24 and March 1, 3, 7, 8, 10, 15, 18, 22, 24, 29, and 31.
