In the past week police made five motor vehicle stops; four resulted in verbal warnings and one in a written warning or citation. Officers also responded to two false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service was called to seven medical emergencies and took six people to the hospital, four with Advanced Life Support services in attendance; one person needed a lift assist.
Tuesday, Sept. 13
At 1:39 p.m. a DPW worker called police about a woman who was walking around a property on Still River Road; she told an officer she was taking photos.
Wednesday, Sept. 14
At 1:41 p.m. a driver called 911 to say a tree had fallen on some wires on Woodside Road, and police notified National Grid. At 1:48 p.m. someone called 911 with suspicions about a man who, according to the caller, had driven up to the General Store, taken photos of children there, and then sped off toward the library. An officer located the driver, who said he was taking pictures of the building. At 2:53 p.m. two cars had a minor collision on Still River Road; no one was injured.
Thursday, Sept. 15
At 9:42 a.m. a large delivery truck ran into a telephone pole on Clinton Shore Drive; Verizon was notified. At 11:36 a.m. someone reported a white bulldog with a black collar wandering near Ayer Road. A few minutes later, at 11:56 a.m., a caller expressed concern about a dog in a parked car at a business on Ayer Road; police found the car windows were partly open, and the dog was not in distress. At 5:40 p.m. a caller said a school bus was stuck in the parking lot at the Depot Road soccer field, but the bus was gone when police arrived.
Friday, Sept. 16
At 6:16 a.m. a driver called 911 to say a white truck had struck his car in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot and then sped away. The caller did not get the truck’s license plate and had bought coffee before phoning, so police could not locate the truck; however, they are checking security camera footage to try to identify it. At 3:46 p.m. a 911 caller told police a truck driver was speeding on Old Shirley Road and was using his cellphone at the same time.
Saturday, Sept. 17
At 1:21 a.m. an officer on patrol helped someone with some free furniture left near the intersection of Slough and Woodchuck Hill roads. At 10:08 a.m. an Ayer Road resident reported fraudulent activity on a credit card. At 1:43 p.m. a burglar alarm went off at a business on Mass. Ave., but police found no sign of a break-in. At 11:30 p.m. an Oak Hill Road resident complained about a loud party nearby; police said guests were leaving a wedding reception and the noise would diminish soon.
Sunday, Sept. 18
At 9:31 a.m. and at 9:54 a.m. two different Oak Hill Road residents asked to speak with officers. No information was available about the first call; the second caller had an issue with the officer on duty on the road. At 11:31 a.m. someone called to report a boxer-mix dog loose on Ayer Road.
Monday, Sept. 19
At 4:03 p.m. a caller asked police to check on the well-being of a woman who appeared to be asleep in a car on Pond Road; the officer found nothing amiss.
