How many times must we tell our “selected” town officials to act as we have voted? It seems the fate of the Bromfield House has been recycled by our boards even though the town has voted to sell the property and the house as one item, with preset conditions that the exterior may not be changed in order to preserve the historical character of this home. By adding the Bromfield House to the Common Historic District this can be achieved—as we originally voted. I believe this was the recommendation by the Trustees of the Bromfield School.
This upcoming Town Meeting is historically low in attendance and the success of the Historical Commission’s article will depend on the determination of those in attendance. It is critical that we all go and vote, again, to protect the historical Bromfield House.
