In the past week police made 16 motor vehicle stops; 10 resulted in verbal warnings and six in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on a disabled motor vehicle, helped one person locked out of a car, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to three false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service was called to three medical emergencies and took three people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance.
Tuesday, Aug. 9
At 8:31 a.m. a caller told police a tree had fallen onto some wires on Madigan Lane; National Grid was alerted. At 10:45 a.m. an officer filed a report on a case of fraud; no other information was available. At 6:01 p.m. an officer stopped a driver for speeding near the intersection of Oak Hill Road and Fairbank Street; the 25-year-old Boxborough man was also driving without a license and received a summons for both offenses.
Wednesday, Aug. 10
At 12:08 a.m. a Littleton Road resident called 911 after hearing a loud bang followed by someone crying. Police found a car had struck a utility pole, resulting in a power outage. The ambulance took a person to the hospital, and National Grid was called to tend to the pole. At 2:52 p.m. a caller reported a goat roaming along East Bare Hill Road. At 3:41 p.m. a falling tree branch pulled down the electric line to a home on Old Mill Road. At 4:02 p.m. an assault took place at an Ayer Road apartment; the incident is under investigation.
Thursday, Aug. 11
At 8:40 a.m. an officer checked on an unfamiliar car parked at an Old Littleton Road residence. At 8:09 p.m. an officer noticed a fallen mailbox beside Depot Road, but it showed no evidence of damage or vandalism.
Friday, Aug. 12
At 2:28 p.m. a caller reported a crash on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 10:04 p.m. Ayer police asked for assistance when a disturbance broke out while the Ayer officers were providing someone with an escort at a Main Street building.
Saturday, Aug. 13
Nothing significant to report.
Sunday, Aug. 14
At 11:50 a.m. a caller reported some damage at a Bolton Road residence.
Monday: Aug. 15
At 3:38 p.m. someone called to say a man was sitting on a lawn chair beside Old Littleton Road; police explained this was not a crime. At 4:07 p.m. another Old Littleton Road resident called to report a damaged mailbox.
