In the past week police made five motor vehicle stops; three resulted in verbal warnings and two in written warnings or citations. Officers also issued or renewed one firearm permit and responded to two false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service was called to five medical emergencies and took five people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance.
Tuesday, Aug. 16
At 7:46 a.m. the Department of Public Works announced Under Pin Hill Road would be closed for repairs. At 2:48 p.m. a resident told police about an unfamiliar car that had been parked in front of the resident’s house—but as the car had already left, there was nothing police could do. At 4:04 p.m. a caller reported a dead animal on Ayer Road, and the DPW was notified.
Wednesday, Aug17
At 7:33 a.m. a woman called police about an incident of road rage; she said the angry driver had turned onto Route 2, so state police were alerted.
Thursday, Aug. 18: At 10:34 a.m. police received multiple reports of a power outage in the Old Shirley Road neighborhood, and National Grid was notified. At 1:41 p.m. someone called to say a chocolate Lab was running loose on Warren Avenue; police left a message for the animal control officer.
Friday, Aug. 19
At 1:55 p.m. a caller reported debris scattered on Mass. Ave. The state highway department was notified. At 5:20 p.m. Boxborough police called on Harvard officers for backup; a man whose conduct seemed suspicious to the Boxborough officers had run into a wooded area. At 10:36 p.m. police told the occupants of three cars parked by the Bromfield School to move along.
Saturday, Aug. 20
At 10:46 a.m. an officer responded to a 911 call about a verbal altercation between a motorcyclist and an automobile driver on Mass. Ave. The officer intervened to restore order. At 10:55 a.m. police were called to Eldridge Road when an older man did not recognize his caregiver and thought the person was an intruder. At 5:37 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car crash on Route 2 westbound, and the ambulance took an injured person to the hospital; state police had jurisdiction over the crash.
Sunday, Aug. 21
At 3:09 p.m. a loose beagle on Warren Avenue triggered a call to the animal control officer. At 5:48 p.m. a Poor Farm Road resident called police to say there was broken glass and debris at the end of his drive; he volunteered to clean it up but wanted to report it.
Monday, Aug. 22
At 12:37 p.m. a caller reported someone had come to the wrong address on Eldridge Road and might need assistance.
