Whenever the Harvard Ambulance Service is called to a car crash, the Fire Department also responds. In the past four weeks, there were eight such crashes, with three people refusing ambulance transport and three taken to a hospital; one person required Advanced Life Support services in attendance.
Thursday, July 7
At 10:45 a.m. an alarm company notified the Fire Department about an alarm on Bolton Road. Engine 2, the tanker, and the tower truck all responded. Firefighters found no sign of smoke or fire, and no one was home.
Friday, July 8
At 7:35 p.m. crews for Engine 2, the tanker, and the tower truck answered an alarm from a Mill Road home, but they found the alarm resulted from a faulty detector, which the homeowner was advised to replace.
Saturday, July 9
At 6:05 p.m. the duty officer responded to a 911 call about smoke in a Littleton Road home and found the problem was burned food. At 6:54 p.m. the duty officer cleaned and reset an alarm that went off on Old Littleton Road.
Monday, July 11
At 7:12 a.m. Engines 2 and 4 were called to a commercial building on Ayer Road; the problem was a faulty detector.
Tuesday, July 12
At 12:08 a.m. a low battery set off an alarm at an Old Mill Road house; the homeowner was advised to replace the battery. At 8:38 a.m. a 911 caller reported a trailer-mounted air compressor was burning on Littleton County Road. Engine 2’s crew put out the fire.
Wednesday, July 13
At 8:12 a.m. a carbon monoxide alarm sounded at an Ayer Road residence, but firefighters found no CO and advised the owner to replace the alarm. At 4:40 p.m. someone called 911 to report a car fire on Interstate 495 south, but the car was merely overheated and no fire services were needed.
Tuesday, July 19
At 6:10 p.m. the Fire Department responded to a fire alarm from a house on Jacob Gates Road, but the report on this incident was not yet available.
Wednesday, July 27
At 6:46 a.m. a caller reported trouble with a faulty fire alarm at a home on Old Schoolhouse Road. At 11:24 a.m. a caller reported fluid leaking from a truck on Stow Road; the fire chief went to the scene and found the fluid had been absorbed by sand and the spill was not large enough to require a report to the state.
Thursday, July 28
At 6:58 p.m. a crew doing maintenance work set off the fire alarm at the Bromfield School.
Friday, July 29
At 7:18 p.m. a caller reported smoke on Stow Road; firefighters found someone was burning brush illegally and ordered the fire put out. At 11:25 p.m. a car crash at the intersection of Ayer and Old Shirley roads resulted in fluid leaking from the car radiator. Engine 2’s crew cleaned up the spill.
Tuesday, Aug. 2
At 2:06 p.m. the Fire Department provided mutual aid to the Littleton Fire Department.
Wednesday, Aug. 3
The department was called at 11:36 a.m. to again provide mutual aid to the Littleton Fire Department.
