At the Capital Planning and Investment Committee’s Aug. 15 meeting members voted Nate Finch as chair for the second year in a row. Finch has served on the committee as one of two citizens at large since 2017. The other citizen at large, Jeffrey Lin, joined CPIC last year and was elected secretary at the Monday morning meeting. The new School Committee representative, Sharlene Cronin, was elected vice chair.
The committee consists of eight members, but only five of those participate in voting—two citizens at large (appointed by the Select Board), and one member each from the School Committee, Select Board, and Finance Committee. Don Ludwig is the new Select Board representative; the Finance Committee has not yet appointed a representative. The nonvoting members include the town administrator, the finance director, and the school superintendent.
CPIC is responsible for understanding the town’s short- and long-term capital needs and for recommending annual capital expenditures, including funding sources. It will begin holding regular meetings this fall on Thursdays at 9:15 a.m. The committee is in the process of updating its fiscal 2024 capital request form; it will be mailed out to all boards, committees, and department heads by Sept. 1. Submissions are due Sept. 30, and reviews of each submission will be conducted throughout the fall.
