Police made 19 motor vehicle stops in the past week; 11 resulted in verbal warnings and eight in written warnings or citations. Officers also made two well-being checks and responded to two false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service was called to three medical emergencies and took three people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance.
Tuesday, June 14
At 12:48 a.m. an officer checked on a parked car on Prospect Hill Road but found nothing amiss. At 8:33 p.m. a caller reported a car had run out of gas on Oak Hill Road. Fortunately a helpful neighbor gave the driver enough gas to make it to a station.
Wednesday, June 15
At 12:13 p.m. an officer alerted Verizon that a large truck had pulled a wire down on Tahanto Trail. At 11:57 p.m. an East Bare Hill Road resident called 911, saying some people with flashlights were walking around nearby. An officer found their car had struck a stone wall and was too damaged to drive, so the officer notified a towing service.
Thursday, June 16
At 9:34 p.m. police were called to a two-car accident near the intersection of Gebo Lane and Ayer Road. One car had struck a deer, knocking it into the second vehicle; no humans were injured.
Friday, June 17
At 8:48 a.m. someone called to ask police to check on a 9- or 10-year-old girl who was walking along Ayer Road; police checked the area, but the girl was no longer there. At 10:16 p.m. a member of the Fire Department told police a crew trimming trees along Ayer Road was leaving branches in the roadway; an officer told the crew to keep the road clear. At 1:51 p.m. an officer stopped a motorist for speeding on Ayer Road; the driver, who had just gotten off Route 2, was also found to have a suspended license and was issued a summons on both counts; no further information on the driver was included in the log.
Saturday, June 18
At 9:14 a.m. a Mill Road resident noticed a dog in their yard and phoned the neighbor who owned the animal. Getting no answer, the resident called 911 to ask for a well-being check on the neighbor. Police found the dog owner was out looking for the dog. At 4:31 p.m. someone called police to say a group of people at Bare Hill Pond had alcohol, which is not permitted. Police checked but concluded the complaint was unfounded. Two crashes took place on Route 2 eastbound that evening, one at 10:34 and one at 11:26 (see Fire Log below).
Sunday, June 19
At 12:46 a.m. an officer checked on a car parked on Prospect Hill Road with its lights on. At 7:14 a.m. a caller reported a car weaving from lane to lane on Ayer Road, then turning onto Route 2; state police were alerted. At 8:03 a.m. a security company called police about an alarm sounding on Willow Road, indicating that a door was open. Police checked inside and outside the house and found no intruders.
Monday, June 20
