The Medfield Warriors ended Bromfield’s quest for an MIAA Division 3 championship this evening, defeating the Trojans 13-12 in a hard-fought semi-final game at Lincoln-Sudbury’s Myers Field Friday evening.
Senior co-captain Tallie Dutkewych was the top scorer for Bromfield with six goals, followed by Julia Mara with three, Megan Hoggins with two, and Kristen Podgorni with one. Goalie Peyton VanDorpe was credited with seven saves as she fended off a blistering Warrior offense.
Medfield’s 19-9 domination of draw controls proved crucial, led by the Warrior’s junior midfielder Kelly Blake. Blake won draw control eight times and was her team’s top scorer as well, with eight goals, five unassisted.
For the Trojans, the loss was their second in an otherwise undefeated season. “They were an incredible team,” said Dutkewych after the game. It was the team’s toughest match, she said. “I’m so proud of the way we played. We gave it our all.
