Police made a record-setting 45 motor vehicle stops in the past week; 23 resulted in verbal warnings, 21 in written warnings or citations, and one result was unspecified. Officers also made one well-being check, helped someone locked out of a car, issued or renewed a firearm license, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
The Ambulance Service was called to five medical emergencies, taking five people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance.

Wednesday, May 11
At 10:53 a.m. an officer on patrol checked on a car that had pulled off Ayer Road and found the driver was just taking a nap. At 4:48 p.m. someone brought a lost wallet to the police station; police were trying to contact the owner.
Thursday, May 12
At 3:38 p.m. a Woodside Road resident called with a complaint about recreational vehicles speeding in the area; an officer checked the neighborhood but found none.
Friday, May 13
At 2:31 a.m. state police called to report a collision on Route 2 westbound; no one needed ambulance transport. Between 10 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. officers issued four parking tickets for cars on Fairbank Street across from the old library. With the construction equipment now there, any additional parked cars narrowed the road to the point of obstructing two-way traffic, just like double parking or other unsafe parking in any location, the police chief explained. The section of Fairbank was later marked with no-parking signs, and fines for the earlier tickets—although valid—were rescinded. At 2:08 p.m. someone came to the station to complain about the tickets. At 10:40 p.m. a 911 caller told police that youths were hanging out in the Bromfield School parking lot, and the caller believed they might be vandalizing cars parked there. Police told the young people to leave the lot but did not see evidence of vandalism.
Saturday, May 14
At 4:50 a.m. a limo driver called police with concerns after not being able to awaken a Mass. Ave. family who had reserved a ride to the airport; it turned out the reservation was for the following day. At 4:02 p.m. a disoriented driver turned down the path to Old Bromfield from Mass. Ave. and drove toward the library, brushing against and slightly injuring a pedestrian who was leaving town meeting. The car continued down the path, eventually becoming stuck between two rocks on the north side of the library. Police and firefighters responded to the incident; police issued a citation against the driver. At 7:22 p.m. someone found and turned in a lost debit card. At 7:31 p.m. a caller reported two men on dirt bikes speeding on Still River Depot Road; the riders were gone when police arrived.
Sunday, May 15
At 1:16 a.m. an officer on patrol observed a mailbox that had been knocked off its post on Prospect Hill Road. At 9:22 a.m. a Shaker Road resident called about a large snapping turtle that was trapped at a beaver dam; the environmental police were notified. At 11:33 a.m. a 911 caller alerted police to a one-car crash on Bolton Road; the car had gone off the road and needed a tow. At 9:29 p.m. state police reported a multi-car collision was blocking both lanes of Route 2 eastbound; at least one person was taken to the hospital.
