We had a tremendous Earth Day Show and Tell Around Town. Overall, we estimate that 260-plus people participated.
On behalf of Harvard’s Climate Initiative and Energy Advisory committees, we would like to extend deep gratitude to the generous contributions made by hosts at their homes, farms, gardens, and orchards; electric vehicle owners, and volunteers, all of whom gave their time and energy to share information and experiences.
Participants were able to explore important topics including heating and cooling systems, solar arrays, gardening, composting, beekeeping, vermiculture, electric vehicles and tools, conservation, invasive plants, recycling, induction stoves, American chestnut restoration, and LED lighting and light pollution.
Special thanks to the Harvard General, the Green Team from Bromfield, Planning Board, Harvard Conservation Commission, Harvard Conservation Trust, Board of Health, and state Sen. Jamie Eldridge for their support. Through donations, we were able to give an induction cooktop and cookware to the Afghan families in Harvard. We also want to thank the Harvard Press for focusing an issue on Earth Day and writing about our event.
We planted plenty of seeds. Now let’s watch them grow.
