The state reported nine new COVID-19 cases in Harvard for the week ending March 26, seven more cases than last week. The town’s cumulative number of confirmed cases is now 573. Harvard Public Schools reported 32 students absent with COVID-19 for the week beginning April 4, six more than the previous week.
Between March 29 and April 4, the state reported 8,170 confirmed COVID-19 cases, up from 6,581 the previous week. There were 237 hospitalizations reported on April 4, 22 more than the previous week, and the number of ICU patients increased from 22 to 27 during the week ending April 4.
The percentage of Harvard residents eligible for the vaccine (5 and older) and fully vaccinated as of March 29 remains at 85.9%, and the partially vaccinated percentage remains at 10%. 3,082 residents have received a booster dose of the vaccine. These numbers do not include Devens residents or inmates at its Federal Medical Center.
On March 29 the Federal Bureau of Prisons website reported no new COVID-19 cases among inmates at the Federal Medical Center in Devens for the third week in a row. There was one case among staff, the same number as the previous week. Since the pandemic began, 389 of the current inmates and 191 staff have recovered from COVID-19; 13 inmates died of the virus.
