In a week of heavy traffic enforcement, police made 25 motor vehicle stops, 12 resulting in verbal warnings and 13 in written warnings or citations. They also checked on four disabled motor vehicles and responded to three false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service was called to two medical emergencies, taking one person to the hospital with Advanced Life Support services in attendance; another person refused transport.
Tuesday, March 1
At 4:23 p.m. police notified Verizon about a wire hanging from a utility pole along Ayer Road.
Wednesday, March 2
At 1:11 a.m. a caller told police his car had skidded off the road near the intersection of Ayer Road and Myrick Lane. The driver called a family member to pick him up; the car required a tow. Police notified the Department of Public Works about the flash freeze that was creating icy roads all around town. At 6:06 p.m. a car struck and killed a deer on Ayer Road. At 8:09 p.m. a disabled vehicle on Mass. Ave. needed a tow.
Thursday, March 3
At 2:32 a.m. police called the DPW because roads were again becoming slick. At 10:23 a.m. an officer checked on an illegally parked car on Fairbank Street, and the owner moved it. At 4:50 p.m. an officer issued a parking ticket to a vehicle parked illegally near the corner of Fairbank and Littleton roads.
Friday, March 4
At 9:43 a.m. canine Officer Dusty and her partner took part in a community service event in Leverett. At 4:36 p.m. an officer provided directions for a lost motorist parked at the Ayer Road post office. At 4:52 p.m. a driver came to the police station because they feared they were being followed; the concern proved unfounded. At 9:03 p.m. Marlborough police asked for information about a possible suicide attempt there that a caller from Harvard had reported.
Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6
Nothing significant to report.
Monday, March 7: At 9:57 a.m. police called National Grid about a fallen tree on a power line at a Tahanto Trail residence. At 3:23 p.m. Acton police spoke with a Harvard officer about suspicious emails that had come from a Harvard address. At 6:12 p.m. a resident reported harassing phone calls to a juvenile family member.
