Hildreth Elementary School is again seeking a new associate principal. Experienced teacher Melissa Niland stepped into that position last year but has now decided to return to the kindergarten classroom.

In an announcement to the HES community, Principal Josh Myler wrote: “Melissa has done a wonderful job as the associate principal. She has helped many, many students and kept things running smoothly, but misses the opportunity to be working directly with her kindergarten students day to day.”

In her own statement, Niland emphasized that she will be staying at the school: “I love HES and do NOT plan to leave!! I plan to spend the rest of my career teaching, which is where my heart truly is.”

Niland was the third associate principal in five years at the elementary school. She succeeded Dori Polizzi, who held the position from August 2019 to June 2021. Before Polizzi, Scott Mulcahy served from 2017 to 2019.

The associate principal is part of the district leadership team. According to a posting for the position, a candidate must have a state license in administration, while a master’s degree and elementary teaching experience are preferred. The salary range is $95,000 to $110,000
