John Drummey explains the ancient tradition of wassailing, a practice dating back to 16th-century England that was meant to deter evil spirits from the orchard and invite benevolent ones to bless the farmers with a good harvest. Wassailing the orchard was just one of many activities at Winter Fest, hosted by the Harvard Lions and Fruitlands. Also shown are wassailing troupe members John Chapman (left) and Mark Vilain.
