Cecilia Juliano, an 11th-grader at Bromfield, won first place in the regional Lions Clubs youth speech competition to advance to the state semifinals. Juliano competed against students from Grafton, Mendon, and Westborough, addressing the topic “Why Is Accountability Important.” She will next compete in the Massachusetts Lions District 33A contest Feb. 19, with the winner moving on to the Lions youth speech state finals on March 30.
