At 4:49 a.m. engines 2 and 4 responded to a call about a car fire on Route 2 eastbound. The engine crews put out the fire; no one was injured. At 5:54 a.m. an alarm company called to report an alarm was going off in an apartment building on Ayer Road. Firefighters found no sign of fire but did smell cigarette smoke in one part of the building, which may have set off the alarm.
Saturday, Jan. 22
At 7:36 a.m. another alarm was reported from the same apartment building on Ayer Road; again it seemed to have been triggered by accident.
Sunday, Jan. 23
At 4:38 p.m. a caller reported smoke coming from the back of an oven in a Littleton Road home. Engines 2 and 4, as well as the tower truck and the tanker, went to the house. The smoke had largely dispersed when firefighters arrived, and they found no fire in the wall behind the oven. They told the homeowner to have the oven repaired before using it again.
