At 11:46 a.m. a car caught fire while being pulled by a tow truck on Route 2 westbound. The truck driver unhooked it at once. Firefighters from both Harvard and Littleton responded–engines 2 and 4 from Harvard. They extinguished the fire and no one was injured.
Wednesday, Jan. 12
At 4:15 p.m. firefighters were called to a West Bare Hill Road home for a possible chimney fire. They found the fire in a wood stove was not hot enough to create a strong draft, so smoke was backing up into the house. They ventilated the house and checked for any other chimney problems.
Thursday, Jan. 13
At 7:51 p.m. Harvard and Littleton firefighters were called to a car crash on Route 2, this time in the eastbound lanes. The full report was not available at press time, but ambulance services from both towns took several people to area hospitals.
Monday, Jan. 17
At 11:04 a.m. a 911 call brought firefighters and emergency medical services to a one-car crash on Route 2 eastbound. The car had gone off the road, and its position required a hydraulic rescue tool to free the driver, who was taken to a hospital. At 4:07 p.m. a fire alarm came in from the Appleworks building on Ayer Road, possibly set off by a water problem from all the rain.
